Title: Shattered
Author: Jennifer Armstrong and many others
Summary: This book was made up of many sad, scary, and touching stories involving children, their families, and war. My favorite story out of all of them was Faizabad Harvest, 1980 by Suzanne Fisher Staples. This story was about children whose village and house was destroyed by soviet air raids. During these air raids the children’s mom died but the children stuck together and never gave up. Since their father was fighting in the war they had to go to a villagers house to live. The only thing that kept the children going was the very small harvests and the hope of their brother and father returning from the war. The brother left because it was now his duty. Even though the children had hope they never saw their brother or father again.
Elements of fiction: My favorite element of fiction in this story was the plot. Even though the story was briefly described you can see the houses being burnt, the terrified people hiding in the tunnels, and you can feel the earth shake as more people loose their lives.
I would recommend this book to someone that is interested learning about the hardships of the children and families all around the war. It was a sad but touching book that will make you feel sad for those who are not so fortunate and it will give you hope that one day these people will have a better and happier life.

Title: Undone
Author: Paul Jennnings
Summary: There are many shorts stories in this book. My favorite would have to be the one where the little boy goes to a candy shop and he picks out a loli-pop. That might not seem too unusual but it had eyes on it. So he took it home as a pet. That didn’t go so well. It almost ate him!
Comments: The little boy in this book is so funny he does a lot of stupid and hilarious things. He is the best character in the book in my point of view.
Recommendation: Yes!
Why? I would recommend this book for anyone who likes to laugh and loves to read.
