Runaway
Wendelin Van Draanen
This book is about a girl named Molly whose mom died of overdose because she was doing heroin. She ran away from her foster home and made is half way across the country to California. When she was on her way there she had to steel to survive. When she made it to California she still had to steel but she was doing pretty good. At the end she met this girl that was her age that brought her to this mother and daughter and they ended up falling in love with her and were trying to adopt her and that is how the book ended.
I recommend this book to teenage girls because they could understand what she is going through because of her mom, not being able to wash her hair or take a shower, and always having to walk around looking like a boy because of how dirty her hair is so she wants to hide it.
Elements of fiction that stood out to me was the character. How the author made her sneaky and quiet molly is and how she keeps to herself.

Title: Peter and the Starcatchers
Author: Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
Summary:
Peter and the Starcatchers book begins with five orphan boys who are being sent off on a ship to be servants for an evil king named Zarboff the third. They get stranded on an island with savages and pirates, the leader of which is called Black Stache. Peter, the leader of the boys, gets involved with a chest that has powerful starstuff in it and tries, along with a group of other good people to retrieve this starstuff and send it back, wherever “back” is.
Specifically, the elements of fiction that stood out to me were the plot and characters. I liked the plot because it was fast-paced and unpredictable. I encountered many surprises throughout my reading. I also enjoyed the characters because the author described them thoroughly and I could see them in my mind as they carried out the plot of the story.

Title: The War of the Worlds
Author: H.G. Wells
The book is about a father who got divorced. He was suppose to have the kids in his New York house for the weekend when something really strange happened. There were aliens that have been living in our planet for thousands of years. But when they come out of the ground, they show no mercy to mankind.
The plot of the story was the aliens attacking the humans. I thought that the plot was perfect because it gave humans a chance to hide, find shelter, and retaliate and destroy the aliens,
I totally recommend this book to anyone who likes Tom Cruise and blowing stuff up because it is very exciting and keep you wondering what will happen next. Also Tom Cruise dose an awesome job in the book and movie.

The Hobbit
J.R.R. Tolkien
This was a great book about people who go on a big adventure. They have to travel through many dangers and face many challenges on their journey. They face many enemies and even a dragon. It takes place in a different world called Middle Earth. It is a huge place. It has mountains, rivers, towns, caves, and many other places. It takes place in the past in a time of swords and bows. It is important to have a good setting and good characters so the readers can have a good idea about what everything looks like. I recommend this book. It was great.

Title: Cracker!
Author: Cynthia Kadohata
Summary: Dogs were used in the Vietnam War; they were considered equipment of the US Army. Yet only few were shipped home with their handlers. In this book a Dog named cracker is taken from home and sent to Vietnam to sniff out Hostiles with her new trainer. After a while the United States has to leave the war, and the equipment was left behind, seeing it costs more to ship the stuff back. So Cracker is left, but her handler is still worried about her left in Vietnam, will she survive; will she ever find her handler? My favorite Character would be the Dog Cracker, even though she is left behind she’s still determined to find her best friend, she endures thirst and hunger, which is why I like this book. I liked this book because it gets you so interested within the first 20 pages, and you’ll be interested to read this book. I know this because I don’t love to read. The element of the story I thought was most important were the characters, without them the story would be boring, that’s why their there.
Recommend: I Highly recommend this book to dog lovers, or people who have lost then found something in their life.

If Darrell, does not pay Tyray $10 every Friday, then Tyray would beat Darrell up. In the end Darrell and Tyray get into a fight and Darrell wins. Tyray got suspended, because of all the things he had done to Darrell. My favorite character was Darrell, because in the end he was brave. Title: Holes
Author: Louis Sachar
Summery: The book is about a kid named Stanley Yelnats. Stanley was walking home one day and some kid threw sweet feet’s shoe over the over pass and hit Stanley in the head. Stanley picks the shoes up and he started to run. Then the cops stopped him and ask him why he was running with the stolen shoes. The cops brought Stanley home. The cops told Stanley’s parents that he stole sweet feet’s shoes from a homeless shelter. Stanley did not steal the shoes from the homeless shelter. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he would say because his family was cursed. Stanley had to go dig holes for no reason because he found out that a kid named zero stole the shoes from the homeless shelter because he was homeless and he like the shoes.
Comments: I thought that the book was good. I liked the book because Stanley broke the cruse by carried zero up the mountain and he sang, “If only, if only the woodpecker sighs. The bark on the tree was as soft as the sky while the wolf waits below hungry and lonely, and he cries to the moon.
Element of Fiction Highlight: The most important element of fiction to this story was the theme. I picked this element of fiction because the message of never giving up is loud and clear.
Recommend: I highly recommend this book because it is entertaining, and people will like it.
