Title: Sold
Author: Patricia McCormick
Summary of the book: This book was about a girl named Ame she was Indian. She had a best friend named Lakisha. Lakisha got stuck in a girl’s house. She relished she had just got sold as a prostitution. The girl told her she would be stuck there forever.
The element of fiction that really stuck out to me was the characters. There were a lot of people in the book. But the person that really stood out was Lakisha. She seemed like a really nice girl and then got sold to a glamorous white girl. The mumtaz is a really nice person she is trying to help Lakisha’s family pay off their debts.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to someone who wants to learn about haw different cultures like Indian get treated and you can see for your self how bad it really was.

Title: Diamonds in the Shadow
Author: Caroline B. Cooney
Summary: Jared’s mom and dad offered his room to a bunch of African refugees, without his permission. They were the ones doing the most, actually practically all of the sharing; with a group of African strangers that they don’t even know.
The main purpose of this book was to teach you that there could be a multi-rational household that can get along with each other.
I learned that people of different races can get along with each other and that people can also learn to like others for who they are.
I don’t recommend this book because it was harder to follow that others.
